3) Second visit to Ireland, dated April 11 to April 14, 2003
Short report of visit to Ireland last few days with Karen on Friday, April 11 through Monday, April 14.
After a scan and further examination in the hospital in the Netherlands had shown that Karen's liver, lungs and bones were clean and its metastasis in the neck for more than half were offered wilted Carmodey Dr. Karen Ireland to continue to assist with vitamin injections and possibly surgery of the dead tissue. Karen has a lot of pain because the great dead tumor mass and the morphine and other painkillers - including methadone - demolish her energy and is almost impossible to bear. also adjusts itself to the dead left breast a garland of what they think new tumor growth. The wreath of new tumor (or infected wounds, knowing she was not sure because no biopsy was taken) runs all around the dead tumor tissue from her left breast - or what's left of it - and causes in addition to pain also edema in the left arm and since last week in the right breast in a few days three times as big.
When Dr. Carmodey Karen looked at her chest and saw he was optimistic. He proposed to Karen on Monday (Rinus and Karen were on Saturday to consult with Dr.. Carmodey) to a regional hospital, and there the dead tumor tissue including the tumor surgically removed wreath. He would then Karen's physical condition the following weeks to help improve daily vitamin infusions and promised to give a very different and Rinus Karen Karen after about a month. He put it, you'll be a totally reborn woman if the operation succeeds, you big dead tumor masses disappeared and you do not painkillers longer need. If there are some cancer somewhere that sometimes we get away in a natural way.
This hopeful message of Dr.. Carmodey were Karen and Rinus Monday, April 14, 2003 to a regional hospital. Karen was well received, and after several hours of research and interviews surgeon told the woman that she had surgery the next day would be Easter, and even the hospital should. Karen happy of course.
Monday evening I left itself with a good feeling to Cork for the return flight the next day early to The Netherlands.
But when I called Tuesday Rinus was completely in tears. Karen had been fasting since Monday evening before the operation, but the next day, several hours before surgery was the head of the oncology department at Karen and prohibited the operation. He told Karen that he did not believe in CLT and other alternative solutions, he also said that Dr.. Carmodey a dangerous man and she was there for very fit and he did not Karen surgical help. Let's first chemo and possibly radiation, but is told in palliative was still not healing, then we'll see further. How Karen and Rinus also insisted and said that such further research had indicated that all other organs were free of cancer, he was not sensitive to and stuck to his position: first chemo (taxoterre) than any radiation and if it catches on everything possibly even after surgery.
Rinus was terribly excited and said that he and Karen had not the energy to continue fighting. I advised him Dr. Carmodey for Karen to call, but given the words of the oncologist seemed Carmodey according Rinus not a real option.
Last night (Wednesday) Rinus told me there that day it had been a few good conversations. The doctors were very kind and caring for Karen was. Chemo seems not really an option for Karen because I have consulted both a Dutch physician and Dr.. Carmodey feared that Karen just can not handle it physically. The option still would be today, Thursday discussed the irradiation of 'tumor wreath "to the extent to shrink that still a' palliative 'surgery can take place. Now an additional argument that not enough healthy skin available to the skin closed, while the surgeon told me anything about it Monday and said an operation to be nice and want to carry.
I love you of course aware how things will go with Karen, but this is a huge disappointment and I could well understand that Rinus and Karen are now the towel throw in the ring and stops fighting. I would personally find very sad that you as a patient in this way is thwarted in your choices that you think is best for you. If you get so much opposition - and again all other organs are still cancer and her left breast was completely dead after the crown, including the former and present cancer evenher HB was after all only two Eprexshots back to 8.5 - how can you honestly make real choices? Regardless of whether you choose the right one or not but if given a fair opportunity Karen mi. Mi and this is purely a personal opinion here is again a single man sacrificed to power games and other conflicting interests. I can only really be sad, angry, no longer, that's a sign, but how can it justify doctors from the oath they all have passed? Even in the Netherlands, no one wants, to a doctor after, Karen does not operate on her dead tumor tissue. She was literally one month ago, said in a Dutch hospital: "mrs. you went abroad for an alternative therapy they should even help you there. "I'm writing this on April 17, 2003, not April 17 or something 800. There is a lot to do with the combination of alternative / complementary and conventional I'm afraid.
