Lung cancer: non-small-celled: lifetime story Hennie

d.d. 30 december 2001 writes Bianca in our forum that her mother end november 2001 has died. Bianca has three weeks earlier a daughter and her mother still has seen her grandchild. Unfortunately, she there not long to enjoy.

The story of Hennie, Bianca her mother:

My mother in Maandag13 november 2000, what the flu sickness, something burden of headache and a stiff neck. Thursday 16 november comes my father with me and says that it is not going well with my mother, according to him, runs her through. She does "weird". So I immediately look and questions. She feels weird, can also not well read more. We do what exercises, they can read, they can indeed appoint no more letters. Well, what would be going on? Tomorrow at the family doctor. I asked immediately to a colleague the following day what it can be if you suddenly cannot read. She thought of a brain hemorrhage. I immediately phoned family doctor, mother called and said I'm coming, we can immediately at the GP rightly, you've probably had a hemorrhage. The doctor thought it was a strange story, didn't know well what ie it was reminded. He wanted to write for and some pills but they had to come after the weekend for prick blood. We were wondering if it was better not to go to a neurologist. Well, she never complains, I'll even call or you can go this afternoon, said the doctor. At 2 p.m., the neurologist could that claimed some testing out, thought themselves to have a slight hemorrhage on a small spot in the brain. But because my mother is reasonably felt he saw no urgency in the case and she had to come Thursday 23 november for a scan.

My mother felt reasonably could, after the weekend, read again what had still difficulty in concentrating. She said yet; If I feel I do not need me so keep Thursday.

Nobody really cares, well slightly made himself so, a brain hemorrhage is of course also not trivial.

Thursday 23 november, a day like many, everyone goes to his work, pa and ma go to the hospital. 1 p.m., we are all together again, in and in sad. Our MOM of 46 years that never has what appears to be a brain tumor! She is included as a matter of urgency. Follow investigations, her whole body is viewed. It Is a self-contained tumor or a metastasis? Same day pictures of the lungs, blood research. A day later the breasts, the abdomen. On the long photo becomes a speck found, at the bottom on the left. Bronchoscopy follows; ma is positive, there is TB occurred in her family, so it's fixed a scar. I am beginning to worry me more and more. Come to know through books and the internet much, and the cause of my mother seems suspiciously with lung cancermetastasis and that messages are not so pretty.

After endless tension comes the neurologist Wednesday december 6, join us for a conversation. The result of the Bronchoscopy is within … ….

The ground under our knees … …

My suspicion is right….

The neurologist suggests palliative, for cure is no longer possible, he gives her 0%.

On her left lung is a tumor, in the left half (too deep for operation) and there is a slight defect found on the linkernier. We propose to operate the lung spot is small and they can look good. But that is not an option for the doctors, her life should be fun so no heavy operations remain. And everything also depends on the brain tumor.

The neurologist had conversation with the lung has a doctor and oncologist from Groningen and they want to try the d.m.v. 5 irradiations brain tumor to shrink to stabilize, or who knows to get away. This succeeds, then through chemotherapy and radiation long tackled.

We're going home …….

They solace pap and me, and is happy to go home. En route, she says that she has had a nice life, satisfied and not angry or rebellious. There are so many who happens to come across such a thing, it is also us now. And she calls even cases that they find much worse. As my brothers friend, 19 years brain hemorrhage and killed. We drink coffee, the phone does, nobody wants picking, they state on and allows the people who call to Word. She explains everything very serenely. And the phone which is ten times gone.

I tell her that I have read a book by Greg Anderson "50 things you definitely should do if the doctor says you have cancer". She sucks on the book, like I've done. It is her handbook! I can also recommend everyone, Greg got him in 1984 to hear that he still had a month to live with lung cancer, metastasis, he still lives!!!

After 5 days we tackle our life back on desolation. We go swimming every day, usually some more anyway 20 laps. The trim bicycle stands in house, they cycle daily 10 kilometers. And every afternoon we will go to the Center, nice walk and watch shops, the people scare if they see us. Yet they find her there very healthy looking. So I feel she says also, delicious do what I want, I have the feeling to have vacation. The people are speechless, we too, every day. I search on the internet and see there like in the books that cancer patients often use nutritional supplements, we seek out what every like swallows, make it a schedule of and extract Beta-Carotene, vitamin C, E, Selenium and zinc. She swallows this everyday now. The medicationshis doctor Dextamethason (12 mg. per day) and Pantozol.

Also I read the posts about green tea, we get this on, they also drink daily around 5 mugs. And we read lots of books, wonderful books about fighters and victors. I will the books that mention claims us most  :

29 and 30 december and 2, 3 and 4 January is mama irradiated. She hasThere is now there to really lived, what done! I think she just says that he every time a piece is low, he completely after January 4 will dwindle. We share this hope.

About a week she should back to the neurologist, he will then request a scan. So we hear at the end of January or the irradiations all work have done.

Last week, they become bald and she wears proudly now her wig. Because he is more beautiful than her real hair as she says. You scares when you see that she is bald, she is very sober. The doctor said that it would happen and there is nothing to do, but if it helps!

And so we live now at this time, basically the same as before, but still different. More intense, much care towards each other. She is now the Dexamethasone will, at the end of January they also ditching medication-free. They find nothing, no side effects so far. She lives as always, does all the work in our big house, cooks every night verse, able to 6.00 pm on, comes to 23.00 hrs to bed, is not tired, swims, cycles etc. Her positive thinking contributes the daily lives of us all. I also get by force, am also very positive and feel supported by many. I myself am teacher of elementary education at a Christian school, I'm also not even though I go to church faith strong. parents of a girl from my class do to faith healing. They pray for my mother and have also told me how I can do that. I pray that the tumors will disappear. But last Sunday, had my mother suffer from her knees, moisture accumulation. I've prayed that that burden would disappear and that Monday was gone. Some people will not believe this, my faith is strong and also that assists and consolation.

I am also a lot on the internet and everything off, so I came also fluff on this site. I have a phone number Via Kees Braam of doctor received this week want my mother Valstar contact them. Who knows he can also still contribute with certain supplements or otherwise.

This concludes my story that is far from over, but where there are still many chapters will be added to. If there are interested then I will like to tell my story further. I would also like to anyone who reads this and also with cancer has to do an enormous amount of strength, faith and love them!

dated 5 July 2001: from Bianca we got the following mail past week:

Fortunately, it is still pretty good with her. She's just finished 5 chemotherapies, a.s. Wednesday she comes through again the scan. They check after each cure with the lung tumor d.m.v. pictures how it Accordingly, they know or continue to make sense. Nou is the cure so well excited,
After 4 treatments was the lung tumor with more than half shrunk! Then you may assume that it is also in the rest of the body decreased. She is already 12 weeks without dexamethasone, so the cure has also positive effect on the brain tumor. But soon we hear so exactly of how and what.
She does have suffer from side effects, but not to the extent that it strongly influenced her daily life, they goes away, swims, does the housekeeping, boils, tja actually does them all though only in less rapid pace. And if they don't feel tired or than She takes a cool breeze.
If I write up this all so is that kinda positive eh?
Remain optimistic, but I am afraid of what might come. I read her form but only negative never read someone who messages. or what years had healed.
