November 6, 2001: Shifra has quietly put to sleep
dated November 7, 2001: Shifra Last night at 22.35 in the peace and quiet to sleep. Since two weeks lying in bed Shifra mainly because the leukemia had ensconced himself in her brains and her bones and spine also caused problems. But while in bed Shifra was happy and optimistic. She was often the most fun with her brothers and sister and though the doctors already in early September predicted that quickly (within two weeks) would die, let it self Shifra at least not notice. I've been on her birthday, which she celebrated on Sunday, October 10. There was still the focal Shifra and she enjoyed to the fullest attention and gifts, etc. Personally, I was amazed by her energy and cheerfulness. But Marina and Cor knew the blood results that the end was near. And last week was Shifra morphine for the pain she had from her bones and spine and because they wanted to eat much more her situation deteriorated. Sunday morning she played a gameboy game with her brother in bed, but at night she sank suddenly away in a sleep sofa, a sort of coma which later turned out to be. Cor and Marina have since then always been in her bed, and although Shifra not come back yet talked to her conversations conducted. Marina told me this morning that she is convinced that Shifra have heard everything. I myself last night around the clock ten Cor phoned and told me that he hoped she would sleep that night so they no longer had to suffer. Although they do so quietly was it was a risk of pulmonary hemorrhage is present example, the doctor had said. Cor also said that they had Shifra said it was good that she was going. Half an hour later, she is quietly and very peacefully with Cor and Marina and the children there.
Marina, Cor, Uriel, Baruch and Avital, I can not put into words what I feel and experience now, but know that my heart and thoughts are with you in these difficult moments. I hope you give that much power, many people now think and your sympathy, because I am convinced. Shifra and I hope you now find peace and quiet. You are such a great example for me, but for many others and I know that you fight not been futile. For us who stay behind it so difficult to see that. That much you've won the past four years. But the way you've worn all the way in which you have lived well makes you an unforgettable man. As you've always said you going to the place where angels sing. And maybe that place is called your home and you travel to go home instead of a departure from home. But we as humans only know if we are all the same now that you've taken. Shifra lots of love and peace and happiness wherever you are. I'll never forget.

Shifra is ashes buried Friday, November 9. At 12.30 there is a memorial meeting in the Dutch Reformed Church in Kampen to Broederweg. Subsequently, Shifra buried at the cemetery in Grafhorst, a village near IJsselmuiden. From the church with cars driven to the cemetery. Shifra is brought there by horse and buggy. After the funeral, there is opportunity for the family condolences and possibly some after talking with Marina and Cor home. Flood Dike 51 in Kampen.
