The Academic Medical Center Utrecht and the Department of Tumor Immunology than (NCMLS) has received millions of dollars to carry out scientific research into the effects of dendritic cell therapy . Truly a breakthrough and hopefully now there will be fast results.

The department of Tumor Immunology (NCMLS) this year is very successful in obtaining grants from NWO, the principal funder of basic scientific research.

Professor Gosse Adema
Today, December 15, it was announced that Professor Gosse Adema, Professor of Molecular Immunology, UMC as the first employee ever, a prestigious VICI grant acquired. The VICI is worth 1.25 million euros. Adema will spend the money on a four-year study in his specialty, the role that so-called dendritic cells play in the defense against cancer among others.

Dr. Alessandra Cambi and dr.Roger Sutmuller
To Dr. Alessandra Cambi, including the Department of Tumor Immunology, was awarded a VENI grant. They will be studying properties of the cell surface of dendritic cells. Professor Carl Figdor
The head of the department, Prof. Carl Figdor, heard earlier this month that his application for a TOP grant from ZonMw, a part of NWO, has been honored. TOP grant provides a strong research area for new risky research lines. Of the 156 qualified applications could not be assigned more than sixteen. Subsidies is the TOP half million.
