Updated March 5, 2005 by: Mart is declared clinically tumor-free after treatment with TACE and LITT by Dr. Vogl.
March 5, 2005: Monique is a summary update of everything that has happened to her father Mart last eighteen months after August 2003 in the liver metastases were found in the Daniel den Hoed, Rotterdam. The e-mail from Monique places we changed, but of course a great story and result of people not going to sit in the towel but always go for the best possible treatment. And that turned out to TACE and LITT with Dr. Vogl be. I think worthy of congratulations and a huge incentive for others. Thanks again, Monique and Linda Mart, and that you do this with us and many others to share., Br> In this sequel to the story from September 2003, Daniel den Hoed Clinic Rotterdam.
Long story short:
After we have received a referral from a specialist from another hospital (after much persuasion used to have) we went to Frankfurt, Prof. Vogl. London unfortunately did not cooperate, just like our own oncologist from Veldhoven either. Dr. The Game of Rotterdam has a beautiful letter in which he indicates that we want to go abroad for treatment because we do not agree with the treatments they offer in the Netherlands. Not a bad word about him, because we have always had a very good relationship with him. Prof. IJzermans time liver perfusion has recommended, see previous story, and so we found the Dr. Wild.
Because our time was allowed, we first ensured that we had approval from our insurance VGZ., Prof. Vogl going to Germany. We even received an authorization to transport the claims. Again, you need a referral from the specialist.
Our first visit to Professor Vogl on September 16, 2004 was very surprising.
We arrived there at 13.00 hours, 15.00 our Dad was in the MRI and at 16.15 we had a conversation with Prof. Vogl.
Proposal:
4 x TACE (chemo directly via the femoral vein to the liver) to 12 small metastases possible to kill 2 x LITT (laser directly into the metastases) for the remaining metastases (he hoped there were to be treated by LITT 5)
The first treatment the following day, September 17 (our Dad's birthday), very exciting, but very better than expected
Eventually he has 3 x 3 x TACE and LITT had, and this in a period of 6 months. 1 Treatment per month approximately. And more immediately after treatment at the end of the day you hear the result. Except for LITT is that until the next day. Then we had to stay overnight. The treatments are all outpatient end of the day so you go back home or to a hotel.
At the (now) last LITT treatment, last February, no metastasis in sight, more like his lungs are fully checked one more time on the scan, all cancer-free for the moment.
We obviously do not stabbing our heads in the sand, hoping that this time being it remains so.
Next check-up is May 12, 2005.
Hopefully we have good news.
Greetings, Monique
